Strain development | B6;129S7-Heyl<tm1Kkb>. The Heyl gene is a member of the hairy and enhancer of split related family of bHLH transcription factors, play important roles in mediating the Notch signaling pathway. It is suggested that the Heyl gene has a role of the differentiation of retina. This strain is useful for elucidation of the Notch-signaling pathway mechanism. |
Strain description | Developed by Drs. H. Kokubo and R.L. Johnson at University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in 1999. Combined loxP site and lacZ-Neo cassette was transferred into Heyl gene. |
Colony maintenance | Sibling mating.Homozygous mutant mice are fertile and display no obvious defects. |
