BRC No.RBRC01253
TypeTargeted MutationCartagena
SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6;129S4-Gopc<tm1Tno>/Rbrc
Former Common nameGOPC Knockout mouse
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineJ1 [129S4/SvJae]
Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Drs. Ryoji Yao and Tetsuo Noda, Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research Cancer Institute in 1999. Genomic sequence containing 2, 2b, 3 and 4 of Gopc was replaced by the insertion of a LacZ and a floxed neo cassette. This strain originated on a B6;129 background.
Strain descriptionB6;129S4-Gopc<tm1Tno>. Gopc, golgi associtated PDZ and coiled-coil motif containing that predominantly localized at trans-Golgi region, propose that play a role in vesicle transport from the Golgi. The Gopc deficient male mice are infertile that spermatozoa showed complete lack of acrosomes. This knockout mice are proved to be powerful tools for understanding the mechanisms underlying spermatogenesism, and valuable animal mode for human globozoospermia.
Colony maintenanceSibling Mating (Heterozygote x Wild-type, Heterozygote)
