Strain developmentDeveloped by Dr. Takahiro Kunisada, Gifu University School of Medicine in 2004. The transgene was injected into the pronuclei of B6D2F1 fertilized eggs. Transgenic mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6.
Strain descriptionB6;D2-Tg(MT1-kit,VAL620ALA). Transgenic mouse expresses the Val 620 Ala mutated Kit gene. Mice carrying the transgene show white spots on one fourth of the body hair. This transgenic mice are useful for the study of Kit gene function.
Colony maintenanceBackcross to C57BL/6 (Hemizygote x C57BL/6JJcl)Hemizygous mice show white spots on one fourth of the body hair.Reproductive performance is good.
