TypeTargeted MutationCartagena
SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6;129S2-Dppa3<tm1(rtTA)Nkn>/NknRbrc
Former Common namePGC7 KO
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineD3 [129S2/SvPas]
Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Toshinobu Nakamura, Toru Kimura and Toru Nakano, Graduate School of Medicine and Frontier Biosciences, Osaka University in 2003. D3 ES cells were used to generate the mutant mice. The mice were crossed to C57BL/6 (C57BL/6 semicongenic).
Strain descriptionDppa3 (PGC7/Stella) gene knockout (rtTA knock-in mice). The start codon of Dppa3 was replaced with rtTA cDNA and floxed PGK-neo cassette. Dppa3 gene plays a critical role in embryonic development as a maternal facotor. Homozygote males mice are fully fertile, but homozygous females are infertile.
Colony maintenanceHeterozygote x Wild-type [C57BL/6NCrSlc]
References
PGC7/Stella protects against DNA demethylation in early embryogenesis.
