Strain development | Developed by Dr. Kadowaki of the University of Tokyo and backcrossed to BALB/c for 12 generations by depositor. |
Strain description | C.Cg-Pik3r1<tm1Tka>. The PI3K, phosphoinositide-3-kinase gene is a key enzyme producing phospholipid second messengers and plays an important role in various signal transduction pathways. This knockout mouse strain is useful for investigating the function of the PI3K gene. |
Colony maintenance | Since most of homozygous females are sterile, we maintain the colony by mating heterozygous females with homozygous males. |
