Former Common namePAFR-KO, Platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor knockout mouse
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineE14.1 [129P2/OlaHsd]
Background strainC57BL/6NCrlCrlj
Appearanceblack [a/a B/B C/C]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Dr. Satoshi Ishii at the University of Tokyo in 1998. A neomycin cassette was inserted into the open reading frame of Ptafr gene. The mutant mice were backcrossed to C57BL/6.
Strain descriptionPlatelet-activating factor (PAF) is a phospholipid mediator with pleiotropic and potent biological effects on a variety of cells and tissues. Homozygous mutant mice showed decreased susceptibility to bacterial infection. This strain is useful to elucidating the pathophysiological roles of PAF and PAFR in vivo.
Colony maintenanceBackcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6NCrlCrlj)
