BRC No.RBRC01765
TypeTargeted Mutation CongenicCartagena
SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6.129S4-Tob1<tm1Tya>/TyaRbrc
Former Common nametob-gene KO (B6)
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineJ1 [129S4/SvJae]
Background strainC57BL/6
Appearanceblack [a/a B/B C/C]
Strain developmentDeveloped by Dr. Tetsuo Noda at Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research Cancer Institute and Dr. Tadashi Yamamoto at the University of Tokyo in 1997. A PGK-neo cassette was inserted into the cording region of Tob1 gene. C57BL/6J background.
Strain descriptionTob is a member of antiproliferative protein family which is a negative regulator BMP/Smad signaling in osteoblasts. Tob1 null mice are viable and exhibit bone mass due to increased numbers of osteoblasts. This strain is useful for elucidating of Tob gene function.
Colony maintenanceBackcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6JJcl)
