Former Common name | tob-gene KO (B6) |
H-2 Haplotype | |
ES Cell line | J1 [129S4/SvJae] |
Background strain | C57BL/6 |
Appearance | black [a/a B/B C/C] |
Strain development | Developed by Dr. Tetsuo Noda at Japanese Foundation for Cancer Research Cancer Institute and Dr. Tadashi Yamamoto at the University of Tokyo in 1997. A PGK-neo cassette was inserted into the cording region of Tob1 gene. C57BL/6J background. |
Strain description | Tob is a member of antiproliferative protein family which is a negative regulator BMP/Smad signaling in osteoblasts. Tob1 null mice are viable and exhibit bone mass due to increased numbers of osteoblasts. This strain is useful for elucidating of Tob gene function. |
Colony maintenance | Backcross to C57BL/6 (Heterozygote x C57BL/6JJcl) |
