SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6.Cg-Sept3<tm1Keng>/SiaRbrc
Former Common nameSept3(-) (Acc. No. CDB0422K)
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineTT2 [(C57BL/6NCrlj x CBA/JNCrlj)F1]
Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Mineko Kengaku, RIKEN Brain Science Institute. A neomycin resistance cassette flanked by loxP sites was transferred into TT2 ES cells to replace a partial region of exon 2 and exons 3-5 of Sept3 gene.
Strain descriptionSept3 knock-out mice. Septins are a family of GTPase proteins that are required for cytokinesis in most eukaryotes. Sept3 is a brain-specific protein that is abundant in synaptic terminals. Sept3 knockout mutant mice show normal histogenesis and neuronal differentiation.
Colony maintenance
References
Targeted disruption of Sept3, a heteromeric assembly partner of Sept5 and Sept7 in axons, has no effect on developing CNS neurons.
