SpeciesMus musculus
Strain nameB6.B6C3-Tg(Th-SNCA*140m)01-1Yosh
Former Common nameSyn140m-01-1, B6.Cg-Tg(Th-SNCA*)01-1Yosh
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell line
Background strainC57BL/6JJcl
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Masaki Wakamatsu, Makoto Yoshimoto, Taisho Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in 2001. The transgene was injected into the pronuclei of B6C3F1 fertilized eggs. The mutant mice were backcrossed C57BL/6.
Strain descriptionTh-SCNA transgenic mice expressing human alpha synuclein under the control of tyrosine hydroxylase promoter. Syn130m line (RBRC02829) having a human alpha synuclein sequence with an Ala53Thr point mutation and a lacking of 10 amino acids at the C-terminus, Syn140m line (RBRC02830) having a human alpa synuclein sequence with an Ala 53Thr point mutation. Syn130m line (RBRC02829) is useful as a model of Parkinson Disease. Syn130m Tg mice exhibit decreased dopamine level and dopaminergic neuron number. Motor activity and exploratory behavior are reduced compared to controls. Tg homozygous mice are postnatal lethal. Syn140m line (RBRC02830) is available as a control of Syn130m line. Syn140m Tg mice show no obvious abnormality.
