BRC No.RBRC03558
TypeTargeted MutationCartagena
SpeciesMus musculus
Strain name129.Cg-Pax7<tm1Pgr>
Former Common namePax129, 129-Pax7 KO
H-2 Haplotype
ES Cell lineD3 [129S2/SvPas]
Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Peter Gruss, Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. The mutant mice were backcrossed 129 over 20 times by Naohiro Hashimoto, National Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology.
Strain descriptionPax7 gene knockout mice. The first exon of the paired box was replaced with a neo cassette (RBRC03558) and lacZ-neo cassette (RBRC03559), respectively. In the C57BL/6 background, most homozygous mutant mice die within 3 weeks after birth (survival rate is below 10%). On the other hand, in the 129 background (RBRC03558 and RBRC03559), approximately 50% of mutant mice die within 3 weeks after birth (details unknown). Heterozygous mutant mice for lacZ repoter Pax7<tm2Pgr> (RBRC03559) show negative X-gal staining in the muscle satellite cells.
Colony maintenanceHeterozygote x Wild-type [or Crossing to 129<+Ter>/SvJcl]
