Strain description | Msi2 deficient mice (RBRC04436 and RBRC00437) survive to adult and show poor weight gain, low spontaneous movement and sensory dysfunction, with abnormal PNS development. The cause of the phenotype is thought to be poor neural fiber innervations of specific sensory neuron from DRG to spinal cord. These phenotypes are observed both background (C57BL/6J and CD-1) and detailed analyses were performed in CD-1 background. Msi2 deficient male mice show azoospermia and are infertile. Because the movement of sperm taken from epidermis of Msi2 null male was bad, in vitro fertilization was not successful. Msi2 deficient female mice are fertile; however, probability of pregnancy is poor presumably due to the low spontaneous activity. |
