ES Cell lineR1 [(129X1/SvJ x 129S1/Sv)F1-Kitl<+>]
Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Haruhiko Koseki, RIKEN Center for Allergy and Immunology. R1 ES cells derived from (129X1/SvJ x 129S1/Sv)F1-Kitl<+> were used for the generation of knockout mice. The mutant mice were crossed to C57BL/6J.
Strain descriptionNov (CCN3) gene knockout mice. Exons 1, 2 and 3 of Nov gene were replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. Homozygous mutant mice show no obvious abnormality. Homozygous mutant mice exhibit enhanced neointimal hyperplasia in vascular smooth muscles induced by endothelial injury.
Colony maintenanceHomozygote x Homozygote [or Crossing to C57BL/6JJcl]
References
CCN3 inhibits neointimal hyperplasia through modulation of smooth muscle cell growth and migration.
