Strain developmentDeveloped by Kenji Nishide and Tatsuya Hirano, Chromosome Dynamics Laboratory, RIKEN. BA1 ES cells (C57BL/6 x 129/SvEv) were targeted by using standard conditional knockout methods by inGenious Targeting Laboratory (NY, USA). The mice were mated with CAG-FLPe transgenic mice to delete the Neo selection cassettes, and subsequently backcrossed to C57BL/6J over nine generations.
Strain descriptionNcaph gene floxed mice. Condensins I and II are evolutionarily conserved protein complexes and thought to be central to chromosome assembly and segregation among eukaryotes. In Ncaph floxed mice, exons 2-4 of the Ncaph gene (encoding the condensin I-specific subunit CAP-H) are flanked by loxP sites. Tissue-specific deletion of Ncaph can be generated by crossing with various Cre-expressing mice to study condensin I-specific functions. Homozygous floxed mice are viable and fertile.
