Strain description | Transgenic line expressing murine Mas1 oncogene under the control of the murine Myh6 (myosin, heavy polypeptide 6) promoter. Two sublines (A, RBRC10160; B, RBRC10161) are available. The renin–angiotensin system (RAS) plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. G protein-coupled receptor Mas1 is a receptor for angiotensin (Ang) –(1-7), and ACE2/ Ang-(1-7)/MAS1 receptor axis have been shown to antagonize ACE1/Ang-II/AT1 receptor axis. However, this idea recently looks to become skeptical, and the physiological role of MAS1 in the hearts remains to be determined. B6;B6D2-Tg(Myh6-Mas1)AChuan (RBRC10160) and B6;B6D2-Tg(Myh6-Mas1)BChuan (RBRC10161) overexpress mouse MAS1 gene in cardiomyocytes and die earlier due to heart failure. B6;B6D2-Tg(Myh6-Mas1)BChuan (RBRC10161) mice express MAS1 gene much more highly than B6;B6D2-Tg(Myh6-Mas1)AChuan (RBRC10160) mice, and careful breeding is necessary. |
