Background strain
Appearance
Strain developmentDeveloped by Tsuneyasu Kaisho, Research Center for Allergy and Immunologuy, RIKEN around 2005. Backrossed to BALB/cAJcl by Koji Hase, Keio University Faculty of Pharmacy around 2019-2020.
Strain descriptionSpi-B is an Ets family transcription factor. In B6.Cg-Spib xxxx mice, two loxP sites are inserted in the introns of the Spi-B gene locus. Expression of cre recombinase leads to deletion of Spi-B coding exon(s) flanked by the loxP sites and disruption of the Spi-B gene locus. Spi-B-deficient mice show various phenotypes, such as defects in plasmacytoid dendritic cell function and development and defective development of an intestinal epithelial cell subset, M cell.
